Almost 360 Brighton High School students were sent off to their futures on May 28.

Principal John Biner told the 359 graduates that he was proud of the exemplary leadership they exhibited during their four years in high school.

The Class of 2016 received $60,000 in local scholarships and a total of $6 million scholarships for college, according to Biner. In addition, 100 percent of the school’s AVID college readiness program students were accepted to four-year colleges and 100 percent of them plan to attend two- or four-year colleges in the fall, Biner said. Just a few schools in Colorado have been certified to offer national Advancement Via Individual Determination programs.

During the graduation ceremonies, Biner couldn’t resist touting the school’s infamous Bulldog pride. He congratulated the football team for bringing the Superintendent’s Cup back to the school from cross-town rivals Prairie View High School again this year.
