People will gather Saturday afternoon, 4 to 7 p.m., at the Foothills Art Center in Golden to send off Executive Director Carol Dickinson with the best of wishes. Dickinson, who has brought the center to prominence in her 11 years, will continue to help out until a successor is named, maybe at the end of the month. The center’s at 809 15th St. for those who would like to attend.

Although the Wheat Ridge City Council has canceled some Monday night meetings this summer, Councilman Vance Edwards was quick to point out that he would host his district meeting at the Lakewood Perkins on West Colfax and Simms Street. Edwards was chided recently because he and fellow Councilman Jerry DiTullio are regulars at the eatery and their precious sales tax dollars are going into Lakewood’s coffers rather than Wheat Ridge’s. Is there a tax revenue war brewing?

Who could accuse the Wheat Ridge Council of not having a sense of humor these days?

Who’s at the helm for the Pomona Panthers baseball squad? Pitching ace Jon Klausing called his coach at home Sunday night to let the skipper know he was ready to throw in Monday’s playoff matchup with Regis, despite only two days of rest after throwing 160 pitches May 9. Coach E.J. Mapps concurred and Klausing dispatched Regis 10-3. Pomona and Golden are sporting two of the best squads in the state in 5A and 4A, respectively. Hopefully, both squads will bring home the trophies this weekend.

The drought has been drying up area rivers and lakes, but we think most Colorado residents can still recognize water. It will guide you to the waterside places, according to Jenny Fitt-Peaster, the directory’s publisher. Find more at www.coloradodirectory.com.
