Wallets and purses are a bit lighter these days, and that is
true for many Castle Rock businesses.
Business and property owners are looking for cost-effective ways
to advertise their goods and services, and they’ve approached the
town for some help.
An initial step the town is taking to provide more flexibility
is to extend banner permits from 30 days to six months.
Town council gave town staff the direction to make this change
effective immediately.
Also at its April 28 meeting, town council directed staff to
bring back in its May 12 meeting two emergency ordinances regarding
the sign code — one ordinance that focuses on off-premise signs and
a second for on-premise signs.
The public is invited to attend the May 12 meeting to provide
town council with opinions on the value of these ordinances.
Drafts of these ordinances will be available in the town council
agenda packet, posted at CRgov.com
the afternoon of May 7.
Any emergency ordinance approved by town council that night
would go into effect immediately.
Council also has asked staff to create a working group to look
further at the entire sign code, and to come back to council with
short- and long-term changes to how signs are allowed throughout
town.
The working group comprises business and property owners, two
town council members and others.
The first gathering of this working group is scheduled for 6
p.m. May 6 at the town’s service center, 4175 N. Castleton
Court.
The public is invited to attend and provide input to the working
group.
Before the end of May, the group is expected to present to town
council its recommendations for effective changes to the sign
code.
The existing sign code can be found online at www.crgov.com/Page.asp?NavID=441.
Those with questions about the town’s sign code or related
meetings should contact Kev Freeman, assistant director of
development services, 720-733-3557 or kfreeman@CRgov.com.
