All the blood, sweat, and tears that area wresters have suffered
through all season have led to this point, the regional meets,
where some dreams are made and others broken as grapplers fight it
out on the mat to decide who will be going to state.
No. 5 Discovery Canyon continues to show that it will be a force
to reckon both now and in future seasons as it will be sending a
herd to Denver, claiming not only four individual titles, but
qualifying a total of 11 wrestlers and winning the 4A Region 2
championship.
Leading the individual title chase was two-time state champion
No. 3 Nick Adams (140) followed by Robert Martinez (130), Jeff
Brown (135), Garrett Adams (145), and Collin Bennett (160).
Other DCC qualifiers include Bryce Oberg (103), No. 2 AJ Rees
(112), Steve Turner (119), Tim Call (125), Michael Ellsworth (171),
and David Traynor (189).
Palmer Ridge will be sending multiple wrestlers to the state
meet as the team placed third in 4A Region 1 with 178 points.
Jeremy Rajkowski (140) and Zach Knusten (171) both came away with
titles by major decision while Tyler Thalhammer (125) was second in
his weight class. Antero Guy (135) and Evan Fuellenbach (189)
earned third and Billy Farmer (160) was fourth.
Despite having an extremely young team, Lewis-Palmer — also in
Region 1 — was able to place eighth out of 17 teams. Individually,
Jack Wyman (171) and Mike Hartling (119) both grabbed thirds, while
Nate Rykard (125) was fourth. The trio will represent L-P in
Denver.
In 3A Region 3 TCA came away with fifth out of 11 schools and
qualified seven different wrestlers even though the Titans weren’t
able to win any titles.
Zach Dillon (160) placed the highest, coming in second while
Mason Haycock (103), Zane (135), and Eion (140) Leaf grabbed third.
Along with Jacob Leggett (189), Andrew (125) and Daniel (171)
Register qualified by placing fourth.
