Denver Film and Scream Screen are presenting Welcome to Amityville! as a four-day virtual program this April.

It begins at 7 p.m. April 22 and runs through 11:45 p.m. April 25.

The program is being hosted and curated by Theresa Mercado, who will select four spooky films from the AMITYVILLE franchise and livestream the presentation from the haunted Black Monarch Hotel in Victor, Colorado.

“The Amityville story is perhaps the most well-known haunted house franchise with more than 20 films spanning 40 years,” said Mercado in a news release. “I’m excited to surprise this year’s audiences with a selection of four of the weirdest films of the lot. … There will be lots of terrifying surprises in store, all from the safety and comfort of your own personal haunted house and couch.”

Program tickets cost $15 for Denver Film Members and $20 non-Members. Ticketholders will have the opportunity to submit their guesses for which four films will be shown, and the correct answers will be entered to win prizes from The Black Monarch, Denver Film, Cult Legacy, Bierstadt Lagerhaus and more, states a news release.

Scream Screen is a quarterly horror film series founded in 2015 that is programmed out of the Sie FilmCenter. It typically features “live music, special guests and outlandish cosplay before screenings of underseen and classic genre films,” states its website. Scream Screen is being offered as a virtual program during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Sie FilmCenter, 2510 E. Colfax Ave., which border’s Denver’s City Park and Congress Park neighborhoods, is the permanent home of Denver Film, which is a membership-based nonprofit cultural institution founded in 1978.

Tickets to Welcome to Amityville! can be purchased on Denver Film’s website, which is www.denverfilm.org. The program will be accessible on Denver Film’s Virtual Cinema — available on its website or by downloading the Denver Film app for Roku TV or Apple TV.
