Cozy in Colorado
I actually grew up in Texas but moved to CO about 10 years ago. When I was in Texas, I was given the opportunity to be in a television commercial. It was funny to have people approach me in places like the grocery store just to say they saw me.
I moved here on a job transfer, but after that job ended, I had fallen in love with my future wife and Colorado and now I call this home. In addition to my wife and four kids at home, I have an Uncle and his family in Greeley, cousins in Aurora, Castle Rock and even right here in Thornton.
I like that we get more sunny days than Florida, but I can still sit and watch the snow fall. I don’t think there is anywhere else like it.
Food, family, writing and outdoors
I am a buyer for a food distribution company. I really enjoy analytics, and surprisingly enough, the two really go hand in hand.
I spend most of my off time at any given child’s sports games, concerts or practices. But I do still find time to fire up my grill and throw some steaks on every now and again.
My hobby is writing. It brings me so much joy to write fiction stories for friends and family as well as things that I want to publish. I am in some writing groups and used to play softball. And once the kids get old enough, I would like to go back to that.
Father’s impact
I am number six out of seven children. I think my father passing away unexpectedly when I was young had a strong impact on my life, and still does to this day almost 24 years later.
I think my biggest accomplishment was earning the title of U.S. Marine. I do enjoy going to shows and was actually in a few musicals and even an extra in some of the operettas in The Dallas Opera.
What inspired your book Jermaine Peterman and the Haunted House?
I was inspired by thinking back on my childhood and all of the crazy things that I did with my friends and some things that would have been great to do but was never given the chance, like spending the night in a haunted house to win a contest. I want to give kids today something that they will enjoy reading that parents don’t have to worry about handing to their kids.
