Grant N. Fair, 19, of Brighton passed away Jan. 3 in Boulder. He was born Aug. 19, 1997, to Rodney D. and Ella Monica (Leyba) Fair. Grant was a 2015 graduate of Brighton High School and was a student at the University of Colorado–Boulder.
A lifetime resident of Brighton, Grant’s roots were deep in his community from his grandparents to his parents, local business owners; he loved his town.
As an infant, Grant will always be remembered as a mellow and happy baby, and as he grew up a very kind, loving and sensitive young man. He could capture a heart with his infectious smile and his willingness to converse with everyone he met. He could be a bit of a clown, too, and could turn a smile on faces or coax laughter in a room.
Grant was a knowledgeable sports enthusiast, which allowed a true connection with his father, Rod, as they would contentedly sit and watch football and baseball, analyzing players, stats and outcomes. The proud owner of a new set of skis and boots, Grant was a little old school, preferred skiing instead of boarding and was looking forward to punching his ski pass all winter. A proud American, Grant’s views were strong as often displayed on the T-shirts he intently wore but was respectful of others opinions and beliefs; hearing their voice even if they did not see eye to eye.
Grant felt especially close to his mother, Monica and shared a tighter bond than anyone could imagine. Just to spend time with each other, they would often meet for lunch; both treasured their time together.
Grant and his sister, Katrina, attended CU-Boulder together and valued the time they spent watching the Buffs and the Broncos. They were able to study together and always included each other in their circle of friends.
Grant leaves beautiful memories in the hearts of family, friends, classmates and community, a true testament to the kind of young man he was. He will be truly missed by all.
Grant is survived by his maternal grandparents, Alfred, Sr. and Sue Anne Leyba, of Commerce City; paternal grandparents, Ron G. and Patricia Ann Fair, of Brighton; his parents; his sister; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were Jan. 7 at the First Presbyterian Church of Brighton.
Contributions may be made to the Grant N. Fair Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Valley Bank and Trust, 30 North Fourth Ave., Brighton 80601.
