Brighton bicyclists can pick up a free breakfast on their way to work as part of Bike to Work day July 22.

Two Bike to Work Day stations will be open in Brighton. A wide variety of events is scheduled across Colorado to encourage alternate modes of transportation.

Treads Bicycle Outfitters at 269 E. Bridge St., will offer breakfast treats from 6:30 to 9 a.m. at the shop. The Bike Brighton subcommittee, a Brighton city group, will hold a group bicycle ride at 7 a.m. starting at King Soopers at 100 N. 50th Ave. and ending at Treads bicycle shop.

Bike Brighton subcommittee members also will host a water station for the commute home from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the corner of South Fourth Avenue and Jessup Street.

The idea of Bike to Work Day is to make bicycle commuting a fun experience and to increase the number of regular bicycle commuters. It’s sponsored by the Denver Regional Council of Governments in the Denver metro area and by participating cities around the state.
