On Jan. 21, police officers found a running car parked at the 24-hour North Park Coin Laundry in the 6400 block of Wadsworth Boulevard. The driver was asleep with an empty syringe in his lap and burned residue on a metal spoon in the console, police said. The driver awoke, and was questioned by the officer.

After being denied access to the car, the officer asked the driver to step outside his car, and upon doing so, a second syringe and a Q-tip fell out of the individual’s lap. This led to his arrest.

After placing the individual, who police said admitted to being a heroin addict, in custody, the officer searched the car. Several used syringes, a bag with a spoon, a plastic straw, tin foil metal scraping devices and several small bags were found.

The individual was later tested for sobriety and charged for driving under the influence of drugs, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the police report. His license was revoked.
