1) “Voice of reason.”
2) As a newspaper reporter, I covered a wide range of issues, community topics and industries; and my interest in government is reflected in the work I have done for various political campaigns and on behalf of the Metro North Chamber of Commerce’s Business & Government Affairs Committee, where I am co-chair.
3) As an unaffiliated independent, I would emphasize a beyond-the-party-lines collaboration on the City Council. I would hope to apply that new energy on the City Council to move forward more rapidly on resolving the construction-defects issue, beginning development
of the old Westminster Mall property, and reviving efforts to pressure RTD into building the NW Rail.
4) A large majority of our residents want a thriving, multi-use development with office space, restaurants, shops, entertainment, park areas and other amenities, with a layout that is walkable/bike-able, and with owner-occupied residential units that will reduce traffic. I agree with that vision.
5) Most residents are happy living in Westminster, and few people have major complaints. However, there are people in all parts of Westminster – not just the south end – who feel neglected. They feel the city is not doing enough for them, not responding quickly enough, or just causing them to feel isolated. In many cases, there are easy, uncostly fixes – we just need to be creative enough or assertive enough.
