A groundbreaking ceremony was Sept. 26 at Bromley East Charter School, kicking off the school’s expansion project. Like many schools in School District 27J, the charter school is struggling with space issues. The school’s expansion project includes a middle school wing, which will include six new classrooms, a science room and an art room; more classroom space for special education students; an auditorium; music classroom; drama classroom; and an auxiliary gym.

The charter school secured its own financing and is asking for some funding from the bond measure the school district is pursuing in the Nov. 3 election. Funding from the bond would help offset the cost of the classroom and educational space in the school. Construction on the addition is slated to begin this week.
