Council heard an update from three city departments, the City Attorney’s office, the Human Resources department and the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities, as part of the Focus Arvada program.
In the Focus Arvada program, each city department has taken a deeper look into their organization, structure, strategic issues, lines of business, strategic issues and changes they hope to make as an effort to achieve a customer-focused, data-driven, results-oriented organization.
These three departments looked at improving technology skills, developing vibrant and multi-functional departments, ensure support for all city departments, promote and provide quality health care options, implement more diverse programming, develop a consistent and solid department brand, and become financially responsible and well managed.
The council will continue to hear updates from city departments over the upcoming months. Some of these goals and programs are already being implemented, and others will begin in the 2015-2016 budget cycle according to staff. All city departments have begun using this system and will implement their new results-oriented programs over the next six years.
