Fracking has dangerous consequences
Editor:
Regarding Robert Houdeshell’s blaming the state legislature for not looking out for our well-being when it regulates the oil and gas industries, especially on the process of hydraulic fracturing:
Apparently Mr. Houdeshell does not believe that he and his family will be affected by hydraulic fracturing, or he would make himself more aware of the down side of this relatively new process for the extraction of oil from our environment. In brief, it is noisy, it uses large amounts of clean water forced into the earth along with at least two different poison chemicals to force the oil up, and in some cases the activity can cause seismic activity where there was none before. The poison chemicals have found their way into water sources that are used for drinking and home use of the people who live in the area.
Now, Mr. Houdeshell, are those activities innocent of the uses of our earth resources that we should be caring for? I think our legislators are looking out for our well-being and our resources. I don’t have to tell a Coloradan about the value of clean water. The world now knows that is our most precious natural resource.
