Please support the Salvation Army

Editor:

The Clear Creek Extension Unit of the Salvation Army would like to thank all those who have contributed in the past and encourage you to please donate to our Salvation Army extension this holiday season.

Did you know that all money donated to our Extension Unit stays in Clear Creek County? Our Extension Unit helps locals and stranded travelers.

The amount we can use to help those in need is based solely on how much money we have.

Our only fund-raiser is the Red Kettle Campaign during the month of December. We have a red kettle at the Christmas Market in Georgetown on Dec. 1, 2, 8 and 9, and we have a red kettle at the Safeway store in Idaho Springs every weekend in December.

If you would like to be a bell ringer at one of our red kettles, contact Lynette Kelsey for the Georgetown kettle at 303-679-2343 or 303-569-2909; or to sign up to ring at the Safeway in Idaho Springs, call Ken Simpson at 303-567-9629.

If you would like to donate directly, you may write your check to Clear Creek Salvation Army Extension Unit and mail it to P.O. Box 1622, Idaho Springs, CO 80444.

Again, thank you for all your past support, and may you have a wonderful holiday season.

Thanks for support during election

Editor:

Great thanks to all who offered support and encouragement to me in my campaign for county commissioner.

I’d also like to thank everyone who voted in the election, regardless of your candidate preference.

The other candidates should be complimented for running dignified campaigns, devoid of partisan politics.

The nature of questions in this year’s candidate forums, and the extremely close results, show Clear Creek voters have voted independently, putting local concerns over party.  I consider that to be a very good thing.

The results are now history, and two good people will be new county commissioners.

Let’s all get behind them to make Clear Creek as good as it can be.
