COMMERCE CITY — A 23-year-old Commerce City man wanted for domestic violence and attempted murder eluded police Thursday afternoon near East 64th Avenue and Niagara Street.
Officer Chris Dickey said the unidentified suspect ran from police. Authorities said he’s wanted for a recent case of domestic violence and attempted murder. Dickey said the suspect’s name and mug shot were not released, nor was the location of the alleged crime.
Dickey said the suspect jumped over a fence and got away from officers near 64th and Niagara. The search moved seven blocks down the street a little later in the afternoon. But the suspect got away.
Dickey said detectives are following up on leads.
As a result of the search, Kemp Elementary School and Kearney Middle School were placed in lockdown. It lasted for about 2 1/2 hours. Dickey said officers used reverse 911 to inform residents of the activity in the neighborhood and the situation at the schools.
