Initial signature count approved
The initial count of signatures on the 2090 Coalition petition concerning the rezoning of 2090 Wright St. has come back with more than enough signatures. Lakewood City Clerk Margy Greer has confirmed that of the 8,382 signatures received, 2,226 were removed because the signers were not registered voters, and 255 were removed for other reasons, leaving 5,901 valid signatures.
Still, the coalition exceeded the number of signatures required. However, before final sufficiency is presented to City Council on Sept. 10, Greer said, she will double-check to make sure all the signatures removed should have been, and will remove any signatures for those who requested their signatures be taken off the petition.
West Metro 9/11 Stair Climb
West Metro Firefighters and community members will gather at Red Rocks Amphitheater on Tuesday, Sept. 11, for the annual 9/11 Stair Climb.
The day focuses on fitness and reflection, and the stair climb is not a race, but rather a chance for firefighters to get to know the community and reflect on the lives lost during the 2001 terrorist attacks.
The route is designed to equal climbing 110 stories, the height of the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers that were hit by terrorists who flew airplanes into the towers.
