Hal J. Yeager went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Aug. 21, 2012 — the same day his father died 60 years earlier.
“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8.
He was born June 25, 1925, to Harry and Alveda Yeager in Longmont.
Hal spent his life involved in livestock and agriculture serving as a director on numerous boards and breed associations. He judged every major livestock show in the U.S. and Canada multiple times.
Hal was the shepherd for the CSU for 19 years and upon retirement, he relocated to the San Luis Valley where he ranched and enjoyed the great outdoors the remainder of his years. He was quite a character, and always had a song in his heart or a ditty to share.
He is survived by his two sons: Kelly (Sheryl) Yeager, of Delta, and Jay (Larilee) Yeager, of Del Norte; two daughters, Kay (Fred) Salas, of Dewitt, Mich., and Mary (Steve) Swanson of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a sister, Helen Hanna (Bill), of Longmont.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Helen; his parents, Harry and Alveda; and three brothers, Bob, Carl and Glen Yeager.
Memorial contributions can be made to La Puente Homeless Shelter, 913 State Ave., Alamosa, CO 81101.
Viewing took place Aug. 25, 2012. Service followed at Zion Lutheran Church 1400 Skeel St., Brighton. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery in Brighton.
