Volleyball splits at home

After dropping a five-set heartbreaker to No. 11 Metro State on Friday evening, the Mines women’s volleyball team bounced back for a five-set victory over No. 25 Regis the next evening. The No. 22 Orediggers (17-6, 11-3), who had their 10-game winning streak snapped, received 20 kills from Jackie Stabell in the loss to the Roadrunners, who dropped the first two sets before taking the next three. Mines rallied the next night behind 18 kills from Sam Johnson and 55 assists and 16 digs from Amanda Massey.

Orediggers drop two

Metro State and Regis took games from the Mines men’s soccer team over the weekend, with the Roadrunners winning 3-0 and the Rangers 3-2. The Orediggers (9-6-1, 7-5-1) managed only one shot on goal against Metro State. Tesho Akindele and Baski Baker scored against Regis, but Mines couldn’t overcome its slow start.
