A new Arvada business understands the phrase “bouncing off the walls.” In fact, they encourage it.
Big Time Trampoline Fun Center features large trampolines, a foam pit, dodge ball and all the games a kid — or kid at heart — can want.
“We just want families to play and play with their kids,” said Kelle Hickam, a co-owner of Big Time.
Big Time will open later this month at 7330 W. 52nd Ave. in the Arvada Marketplace shopping center.
Hickam and co-owner Roger Bradley eyed Arvada for the trampoline park because they didn’t see a place where children, teens and parents could play and socialize safely together.
They also wanted a place with a reasonable price point that wouldn’t empty people’s pockets.
“I have three kids—if we want to go somewhere fun, it will cost me $100,” Hickam said. “This is a place where you can get exhausted and have some family bonding time that isn’t expensive.”
Big Time is laid out with age-sensitive areas in mind. A teen area will include a dance floor, tables and places to lounge and socialize. A younger children’s area has smaller trampolines, lower basketball hoops and a pint-sized playground. In the main space, inflatable obstacle courses, a swimming pool-sized foam pit, party areas and climbing ropes are meant for any age.
“We wanted to arrange it so that parents could keep track of their kids while still being able to have a place to socialize or get work done,” said Gina Klawitter, a manager for the trampoline center.
The space is also wheelchair accessible, meaning people of all abilities can navigate through the maze, shoot hoops in the basketball area and use a ramp to access the trampolines.
“Everyone should be able to be with their friends, and everyone wants to be able to get out and play,” Hickam said.
Big Time was set to open earlier this summer, but the slow economy made securing loans a slow process.
Hickam said their landlord, NewMark Merrill, worked hands-on with Big Time to set a lease rate that worked for both parties.
“This business wouldn’t happen without their help. They have done so much for us,” he said.
The partnership with NewMark Merrill is an example of the community attitude Big Time looked for when choosing a space.
The Arvada Marketplace location is also near Interstate 70, which Klawitter said might bring in customers and infuse the shopping center with more business.
Other trampoline parks in Colorado “have drawn visitors from 20 miles away. We hope to do the same,” she said.
