Coach: Scott Hormann

School: Heritage

Sport: baseball

What sports did you play when you were younger?

Baseball, basketball and football. Played college football at
Eastern Michigan University.

What got you started in a coaching career?

I always wanted to coach ever since I can remember. My dad was
always a coach when I was young.

What was your most rewarding moment(s) as a coach?

Having 14 players in our first two years go on to play college
baseball and one sign a professional contract.

What was your most deflating moment(s)?

Losing in the first round last season when we had a five-run
lead in the seventh.

What is most important about having sports a part of the high
school experience?

Sports is a great way for young athletes to learn how to handle
success and failure.

What do you feel is the biggest struggle for high school sports
presently?

Finances. It’s a struggle for any family that wants their kids
to play sports in high school. I also feel like coaches need to
quit telling kids to specialize in one sport.

If you could coach one professional sports team, which would it
be, and what changes would you make?

Oakland Raiders. I would get rid of Al Davis. I’m not even a
Raider fan, but I would do it just to get rid of him. My wife would
love if I did that for her.

If the team you’re coaching presently were to win the state
championship, what would you say would be the No. 1 reason for
it?

Playing together and putting the team first.

What do you do for fun that isn’t related to the sport you
coach?

I love to watch my daughters play their sports. They play for
the fun of it, and win or lose they always have a great time. I
also ride motorcycles with my wife as much as possible.

Walt Disney pictures decides to make a motion picture about your
team and its achievements. What celebrity actor/actress would play
you in the movie?

Owen Wilson, but he would have to gain some weight.
