Pinnacol Foundation offers scholarships
The Pinnacol Foundation is accepting applications for scholarships for the 2011-12 school year. The deadline to apply is March 31.
The foundation offers scholarships to children of Colorado’s injured workers. The funds can be used for college or vocational training. This year, the scholarship has been expanded to include graduate school.
To qualify, students must be the biological, adopted, stepchild or full dependent of a worker killed or seriously injured in a work-related accident while employed by a Colorado-based company. Grade point averages are reviewed and the students must be between the ages of 16 and 25 at the time of the application.
Applications are online at www.pinnacol.com/foundation or by calling 303-361-4775.
Awards vary, but this year’s average scholarship award has increased from $3,000 to about $5,000 for each school year. Since 2000, the foundation has awarded more than $1.3 million in scholarships.
Mountain Range student to attend national conference
Tyler Donovan, a Mountain Range High School student, is one of two students the Colorado Thespian Society selected to attend the National Arts Advocacy Day in Washington, DC, in April.
Americans for the Arts sponsors the 24th annual summit. Donovan will receive a fully scholarship that includes registration fee, airfare, lodging and meals. The event underscores the importance of developing strong public policies and increasing funding for the arts. Donovan was selected based on his work to support the Colorado State Thespian Society.
