A practicing or retired physician is being sought to serve as a
volunteer member of the local Board of Health by the El Paso County
Board of Commissioners. Applications for the open position are due
by March 4, 2011.
The Board of Health is responsible for establishing policy and
budget oversight for the El Paso County Public Health Department.
Applicants should possess public health and financial knowledge,
and be concerned with the wide range of health issues within the
community.
The Board of Health usually meets on the third Monday of each
month at 2 p.m. Additional meetings are scheduled as necessary. The
practicing or retired physician selected will serve a five-year
term through April 8, 2016.

Planning Commission seeks volunteer as well
The El Paso County Board of Commissioners is also seeking
community-minded citizen volunteers to serve on the Planning
Commission.
The Planning Commission reviews planning petitions and makes
recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on land use
requests, and prepares a master plan for unincorporated areas of
the county.
It consists of nine members appointed by the Board of County
Commissioners for three-year terms. Three associate members may
also be appointed for one-year terms. Terms are limited to two full
consecutive terms, except associate members may be reappointed for
an indefinite number of terms.
