Complete support for Nelson
Editor:
One or two quotes from my comments in one of the lead stories in the Feb. 9 issue of the Clear Creek Courant may imply less than total support on my part for Belita Nelson. Such is not the case.
Ms. Nelson has clearly demonstrated an effective and sincere dedication to the Idaho Springs business and nonprofit community.
Who else among us would or could have started and conducted a successful new farmers market, participated in the Mill Creek Valley Historical Society’s Melodrama, directed and produced the well-received “Cemetery Tales” at the United Center, and directed the successful 2010 Gala for our local Historical Society, all within a few months’ time?
It would seem to me that we are fortunate that Belita Nelson has adopted this community and has offered the passion, skill, energy and vision to make this community an even better place in which to live and conduct business. I would submit that Ms. Nelson’s local track record speaks for itself in the most positive terms and that we need to use our resources (personal and otherwise) to move forward.

Clear Creek Public and Environmental Health would like to extend a special thank-you to the RE-1 School District and the Clear Creek Recreation District for their cooperation in hosting a sports and fitness event at the high school Jan. 7.
Thirty participants dropped by the Friday after-school and evening event to learn about winter sports activities and equipment, fitness and recreation opportunities, free health and wellness activities, free health insurance for youth, safety tips and vaccination information.
Our thanks to sports retailers Altitude Sickness, Exit 240, Echo Ski Area and the recreation center for providing giveaways, drawings and discounts.
Thanks to all of the parents and youth in our community who dropped by for their free gift.
