Welcome back to school. The educators at Cripple Creek-Victor
Junior/Senior High School are excited for this oncoming school
year.

Our educational focus is centered upon making sure every student
is prepared to be a happy, healthy and productive adult upon their
graduation.

A survey of local businesses done several years ago, along with
the 2006 national study “Are They Really Ready to Work,” has
provided us with critical information about what it is we need to
do to assure our student success upon graduation. We are using
these resources to guide our focus in creating a rigorous learning
environment for all our students.

As a result of these studies and our assessments, we will
directly address the learning needs of our students through three
focus areas:

Students learning at or above grade level.

Students having positive and productive behavior.

Students having 95 percent attendance or better.

Grade-level student learning will be established by the
following actions:

Comprehension and writing proficiencies.

Math foundations classes for 7th through 12th grades will
address mathematic learning gaps.

Rigorous classroom instruction based upon the top ten critical
learning targets.

Pre-testing, post-testing, progress monitoring and benchmark
testing.

The Freshman Pathway class guides students through making
lifestyle and career decisions.

Junior Post-Secondary Readiness Lab will facilitate students
development of critical thinking/problem solving skills needed for
the Information Age.

Senior Seminar is a transition course to assist our students in
moving from the public education setting into higher education, the
workforce and military.

General classroom instructional delivery that will emphasize
critical thinking and problem solving skills.

RTI for students struggling with academics.

Positive and productive behavior will be established by the
following actions:

Implementation of schoolwide positive behavior support that is a
proactive approach to creating a positive and productive learning
environment by teaching what is expected and acknowledging the
positive action of our students and teachers.

Implementing a discipline procedure that guides to students to
positive and productive behavior by consistent classroom
discipline, the StepUp program to coach students who are struggling
with behavior, and RTI for students with continuous behavior
issues.

Good attendance will be established by these actions:

Acknowledgement of students with 95 percent attendance or
better.

Consistent record keeping of classroom attendance.

Consistent review of students with attendance problems.

Attendance plans and reviews for students with habitual
attendance problems.

Truancy court for student in violation of compulsory
attendance.

It is our goal that CC/V students graduate proficient in
reading, writing, and math. They have the skills to think in a
critical manner and solve problems. Our students act in a
professional manner and exhibit an exceptional work ethic.
