American Legion’s Eric V. Dickson Post 1980 of Woodland Park is
going to be sponsoring a “Support Our Troops Drive.”
The members will collect small comfort items that are scarce in
the outposts in Afghanistan from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 14 at the
American Legion booth in front of Woodland Park’s Walmart.
After that day, donors can drop off donations at the customer
service area inside Walmart for at least two more weeks.
Soldiers and marines are asking the Red Cross for the following
items: deodorant, good disposable razors, shave creams, small
containers of foot powder, summer-weight boot socks, chapstick, wet
wipes, Slim Jims, helmet liners, coffee creamer and peanut
M&Ms. No aerosol containers or tobacco.
The post will package and send the collected items to the Bagram
Airfield Red Cross station, where the items will then be forwarded
to the outposts.
