Two-time PGA champ Stockton coming to Parker for Senior title
try

Dave Stockton, 1991 U.S. Ryder Cup captain and two-time PGA
Champion (1970, 1976), has been announced as part of the 71st
Senior PGA Championship May 25-30 at Colorado Golf Club in
Parker.

Stockton was hospitalized for a week, beginning Dec. 11, 2009,
after a blood clot was found in his lung. Stockton already had been
recovering from rotator cuff surgery before his most recent
struggle. Always candid, Stockton reflected about his drive to
regain his health and thoughts about the Senior PGA Championship,
where he has made 15 previous appearances.

“I found out that if I had been 30 minutes later, I might not
have made it,” Stockton said. “So, I really have a lot to be
thankful for now. I want to say that I love Colorado, and I’m glad
that this championship is there. I think that it is good for the
Champions Tour, and good for golf to have the Senior PGA
Championship in Colorado. I have a little bit of history in
Colorado, having once served as director of golf in Keystone. The
altitude golf is different, but it’s exciting for the
tournament.

“I always liked the Senior PGA as well as the PGA Championship.
The PGA has played its championship on established courses and now
it has taken this championship to a new, but very challenging
course. I expect it will be a great championship in May.”
