Wildlife officers were forced to tranquilize a bear that
wandered into a residential area near Cottoncreek Drive and Lincoln
Avenue.
Several residents gathered to watch as officers from the
Colorado Division of Wildlife tranquilized the bear, which made its
way 30 feet up a tree behind a home on Ramshead Court June 26. The
bear eventually came tumbling down onto a trampoline in the yard,
bending the frame in the process.
The bear was placed in a trailer and moved to an unknown
location. The home is near an open space area, but the bear had to
walk through the neighborhood to get to the tree, said Cocha
Heyden, public information officer for the Douglas County Sheriff’s
Office.
It is the second time this year that a bear has been spotted in
Highlands Ranch.
