In an effort to improve the roads of Elbert County, the Road and
Bridge Department for the county began a soil analysis project on a
few county roads.
At the May 27 Elbert Board of County Commissioner meeting Road
and Bridge superintendent Ed Ehmann announced the completion of the
project on county roads 17-21, 106, 45 and 118.
He said now that he has the ground engineering results, he can
determine the most cost effective way to improve the roads.
“I am hoping to have the project ready to bid on in the next 60
days,” he said.
Ehmann said he hopes to use the ground engineering process as a
regular routine in the future for other road projects in the
county. He said the results from the project give the Road and
Bridge department a solid analysis on how to remedy and build the
roads.
“This new system is absolutely worth it,” he said. “It will save
the county money down the road on construction dollars and also
save time.”
Drivers can expect continued road construction on the
intersection of County Road 13 and County Road 25-41 until the
middle of July. The project was originally scheduled to be complete
on June 30, but due to recent severe weather the project has been
extended.
