Land of the free and home of the beer

May 5, 2009, 11:55 p.m., 1400 block of Allison Street.

Police responded to a noise complaint at an apartment complex. The officers asked the owners of the unit to turn the music down. They said they would, and thanked the agents for being nice about the request. About an hour later officers were called back to the residence as neighbors complained the noise had retuned. This time the man police spoke with was highly intoxicated and would not follow orders of officers to calm down and turn the music down. Officers told him to leave the residence while they conducted business, but the man said he wanted to take his beer with him. Agents said he could not because he was intoxicated and not following orders. That man became irate, cursing at the officers, telling them, “this is a free country and I paid for that beer.” The man was finally taken into custody and charged with obstructing governmental operations after numerous warnings to leave the area and stop causing a disturbance to the neighbors in the area.

Dirty texting

May 8, 2009, 6:16 p.m., 12000 block of west Alameda Parkway.

Police were called and told a man was sitting in his car outside a business and touching himself in an inappropriate nature. When officers responded, they found the man and questioned him. He said he would never do such a thing and couldn’t believe that anyone would think that. He said he was taking a break from work and texting people from his cell in his car. His said he held the phone low and thought that might give the appearance of a lude act. Agents discovered the man had a long criminal history and asked him to exit his car and be searched for weapons. As the man was getting up his pants fell and police could tell the original report was true. The man attempted to make excuses for the situation, but none seemed to add up. He was arrested for public indecency.
