I have followed the recent letters about the CSAP
tests with interest. I graduated from High School in 1959, my kids
in the early 1980s. So I have no personal experience with the
CSAPs. I would like the opportunity to discuss this with teachers
and parents. This seems to be a real hot button issue. In
particular I see people saying the schools are “teaching to the
test.” In my frame of reference a review of course materials would
be appropriate preparation, but truly “teaching the test” would be
overkill and perhaps a bad thing to do. In my old days “teaching
the test” was akin to cheating, so I probably don’t understand what
is happening. I’m hoping this can be a starter
for
comments.
