Your Xcel Energy bill could drop by about 21 cents.

As a result of three filings made Nov. 3, two cost adjustments
could rise, but the purchase capacity cost adjustment could drop
about 85 cents on a typical residential bill of 625 kilowatt
hours.

The public utilities commission has not approved the adjustments
yet, but should they approve, the new costs would go into effect
Jan. 1, 2009.

The other two adjustments are the air quality improvement rider
and the transmission cost adjustment.

Both will increase slightly — the AQIR will go up a quarter on
the average bill and the TCA about 34 cents.

One of the reasons the PCCA could drop is that Xcel will have
Comanche III online next fall. That will allow Xcel to generate
more power and buy less from a third party, according to Mark
Stutz, Xcel Energy spokesman.

Comanche III will provide 380 megawatts to Xcel, 190 MW to
Intermountain Rural Electric Association and 69 MW to Holy Cross
Energy, Stutz said.
