The Educational Opportunity Foundation of the Black Forest is
offering scholarships to students who reside in Black Forest and
want to continue their education after high school.
The foundation scholarships target students who need that extra
monetary “boost” to be able to pursue post-secondary goals, whether
these goals include a trade or technical certificate, a two-year
associate’s degree, or a four-year college or university
degree.
The foundation has been offering the scholarships since 1965.
The foundation derives its support from businesses and individuals
in the Black Forest community.
The foundation’s scholarship information is available on the Web
at eof.blackforest-co.com, or from counselors at local high
schools, including Stephanie Cornelio at Pine Creek High School,
Sharon Thompson at Lewis-Palmer High School and Amber Stecklein at
Falcon High School.
A student does not have to attend those schools to be eligible.
High school seniors in good standing, no matter what school they
attend, are encouraged to apply. Home-schooled seniors and
individuals who have a General Education Development diploma also
are encouraged to apply.
This year, students who plan to attend a trade or tech school
after graduation have the option of submitting a project instead of
the essay. See the foundation’s Web site for details.
Check the foundation’s Web site or call Nancy Billiard at
719-495-0292 with questions regarding the foundation’s boundaries
or other criteria. Applications must be complete and received by
April 8. Scholarships will be awarded at the foundation’s banquet
in May.
