Graduates of Elizabeth High School in 1933, Janette and her twin
sister Jane lived in Elizabeth where their father was a minister at
the Presbyterian Church.
She married R. Earl Everitt of Parker on Christmas Day 1935 and
moved to the Everitt family homestead house. Her days were filled
with her hobbies of sewing and cooking. Her Parker House rolls,
cinnamon rolls and pies were requested favorites at any type of
community gathering.
After taking a cake decorating class, Janette was called upon to
make wedding cakes for a number of Parker weddings. Her hand-dipped
chocolates and caramels were the highlight Christmas gift for
friends and neighbors.
Janette was a member of the Parker United Methodist Church where
she taught Sunday school classes and played piano for Sunday school
for many years.
She was a 40-plus year member of the Parker Extension Homemakers
and Farmer’s Union. In Farmer’s Union, she was a leader for junior
members and acted as chaperone for Farmer’s Union camp for several
years. When her children reached 4-H age, Janette became a 4-H
leader for sewing, cooking and forestry clubs.
When her husband, Earl, passed away in 1988, Janette took over
the management of the Everitt Airport, a small airport east of
Parker on part of the homestead property. She managed the airport
until it was sold in 2002.
At Janette’s request, there were no services. A celebration of
Janette’s life will be at her home at 2 p.m., Oct. 21. In lieu of
