Faye Griffin knows Jefferson County government forward and backward, she says.
For the past 32 years, Griffin has worked for the county and built a knowledge of its systems. Now that she is term-limited as the county clerk and recorder, Griffin wants to use her experience to better the county’s treasury department.
“I am not ready to retire, I have a lot to give to the county,” Griffin said. “I would like to see Jefferson County as a leader in the state, and I want to help it get back to that.”
Griffin is the Republican candidate in the race for Jefferson County treasurer. She faces democratic candidate Bob Moser for the position in November’s election.
She said her experience with the county makes her the best candidate for the job.
“I feel I have an edge in that I know the county and the employees,” she said. “Working here, I have a knowledge of the personnel rules, policies of the county. The learning curve would not be as much as someone coming in from the outside.”
Griffin said she would ensure treasury employees have a good working environment, which in turn encourages their best work for the residents of the county.
She wants to be an advocate for county employees and would get the chance while sitting on the county personnel and benefit boards as treasurer.
“I would be a manager and leader to help them do their job,” Griffin said. “I would have an open-door policy to listen to concerns and any possible changes.
“This is an important role, we need to make certain that the taxpayers know that we uphold the law and serve the residents of Jefferson County,” Griffin said.

Bob Moser
Bob Moser loves accounting and finances.
Therefore, he was naturally drawn to the Jefferson County Treasurer’s office, he said.
“I have always wanted to serve as a public official, since I got my AARP card here a few months ago. I thought I should do it soon,” Moser said. “I always felt as a citizen of the county that Jeffco needs serious improvements in how they operate.”
Moser is the Democratic candidate in the Jefferson County Treasurer’s race. He faces Republican candidate Faye Griffin for the job during the November election.
Moser’s 25-year experience with accounting and auditing make him the most qualified candidate for the position, he said. He has had hands-on experience with accounting technology and systems, skills he would use dealing with the county’s taxes.
If elected, Moser wants to update the treasury department’s computer system — an act he said is long overdue — and also focus on providing better customer service to Jeffco’s citizens.
“I want to make sure we implement the same type of customer service a Fortune 500 company would give,” he said. “I want the treasury department to be very taxpayer friendly, from improving the Web site down to the employees sitting in the window.”
As treasurer, Moser said he would be fully involved in county issues and use his position to help foster economic growth in the county.
At the end of the day, wants to streamline the department and hold it accountable for all actions.
“If I see something wrong I will say something,” Moser said. “I will be a watchdog for the taxpayers’ money.”
