Last We Knew: Steve Anderson wants to rezone
the old sheriff’s building from commercial to mixed use and replace
the current structures with four four-story buildings on the
4.7-acre property. They would house at least 120 condominiums, with
offices on the first floor of the building facing Littleton
Boulevard. At 1,000-2,800 square feet each, prices would average
$315-$325 a square foot.

The Latest: Historic Preservation Board raised
questions Aug. 21.

What’s Next: Anderson invites the public to
discuss the project on Sept. 14, 6 p.m. at the Buck Recreation
Center. The planning commission and city council hearings will be
set once the plan meets all the requirements of city
staff.

What They Said: Littleton’s Historical
Preservation Board said on Aug. 21 that the Modernist building by
architect Eugene Groves, listed as a “Building of Merit,” should be
incorporated into the design if possible rather than be demolished.
(Additions to the Groves Building and another, newer building by
Eugene Sternberg were not viewed as having merit.) The Groves
Building was former home for the IREA, important in Littleton’s
history, and later the Arapahoe County Sheriff.
