Vote early, vote once, vote anywhere in Teller County. With the
new centralized system, registered voters can drop in at any
polling place and check the boxes. Up and ready by the August
primary, the updated voting system removes the inconvenience as
well as the last-minute race to have a voice in the democratic
process.
“This is great! Voting should be easy, shouldn’t be such a
hassle, so this will eliminate the mad dash to the polling place,”
said clerk and recorder Patricia Crowson on Thursday, April 13.
“This will assure that every vote counts.”
The system relies upon a centralized computer system. “We had to
have connectivity, one computer talking to another,” Crowson
said.
As well, Teller County expects to purchase new voting machines,
from certified vendors, by the end of April, in time to comply with
stipulations of Help American Vote Act.
