Fire drill
10:37 p.m., Oct. 7, West 64th Avenue and Olde Wadsworth Boulevard
Police were on routine patrol when a white 1991 Mazda with four teens inside stopped in the middle of West 64th Avenue facing westbound. Suddenly, three of the four occupants jumped out the vehicle and began running around the car. The fourth passenger jumped out just after his friends, and laid down across the westbound lanes of West 64th Avenue. Just before they got in the car, police saw through the open door an open package of Budweiser beer. When one of the young men got in, he grabbed a few of the beers. After the display, police pulled over the vehicle and questioned the driver and passengers, who were all 20-year-old and 19-year-old men. Police ordered the four men to exit the car, and as they approached officers could smell alcohol on their breath. While searching the men, one of the officers found a bag of marijuana and later a marijuana pipe in the car. The 19-year-old driver was issued a ticket for drunk driving.
Kinky customer
10:30 a.m., Oct. 10, 7700 block of Wadsworth Boulevard
The manager of a hair salon called police after a man came into the business and gave her employees sexually explicit material. It wasn’t the first time the 46-year-old man brought gifts to the salon. The manager told police the man first came to the salon Sept. 14 to get a haircut. During the styling session, the man started telling dirty jokes to the barber. The man said he was an employee of a nearby sex shop and when he returned on Sept. 15 to get his eyebrows trimmed he gave the same 29-year-old woman hairstylist a small tube of lubricant gel. Then, on Sept. 20, the man returned to get another haircut, handing out moist antibacterial wipes to all the stylists before leaving. When the man returned on Oct. 10, the manager recognized the man and said she was going to call police unless he stopped coming into the store. After contacting the 46-year-old man, he told police that he did nothing wrong and that the stylists had asked him for the samples of wipes and moisturizer. He said he would never return to the salon again for a haircut.
