To the editor:
I would like to respond to a letter written by Alexandra Draper
that appeared in the Sept. 29 issue.
She seemed to be very upset about Pat Nagorka’s weekly columns
and thought she should be replaced. I disagree. The point to a
column is to spark discussion. I believe Pat meets that premise and
so does Curt Dale.
I disagree that the pilgrims came here to “create a life in
which their religion of choice was the focus.” I believe Draper is
the one who needs to re-read history. The pilgrims came here to
escape from the Church of England, which forced them to worship is
a certain way.
“Thank God Bush has morals, “Draper wrote. That is almost
laughable. Bush has broken several of the Ten Commandments, such as
remember the sabbath day and keep it holy.
Bush hardly every attends church. Also, he has broken the sixth
commandment, which is “thou shalt not kill.” How many thousands of
people have been killed in Afghanistan and Iraq? How about the 8th
Commandment, thou shalt not steal? How many billions of our money
has disappeared in Iraq?
Finally, Draper was wrong about God not being a puppet master.
Afterall, her hero Bush said that God told him to attack
Afghanistan and Iraq.
