To the editor:

OK enough is enough!

Rarely do I read through Pat Nagorka’s articles any longer. She
has proven herself to be a Democrat first – American second, so I
already knew I would not approve of her writing. The title “Keep
God out of the speech” is what caught my eye today as I read the
Chronicle. This time, she needs to hear my response to her
small-minded views.

To keep God out of anything is pure foolishness, as our founding
fathers acknowledged when framing this fledgling country.

They established this nation to be free of the state-sponsored
church in England so people could seek their own freedoms within
the frame of faith. They meant for us to be free to choose the way
we wanted to worship God, not to be free from worshipping God at
all. Those who make the decision to be Godless would allow our
beloved country to go down the pathway of destruction in order to
satisfy their own need to feel ‘independent’ in some way.

Of course, they have the right to do this in our modern world,
but in so doing they ignore our coins which claim “In God We Trust”
and they fail to notice that our presidents take their oath of
office with one hand on a Bible.

Any president who does not seek God’s strength daily in leading
this nation under God is without defense. It brings reassurance to
millions of Americans when they hear President George Bush implore
God’s guidance in whatever situation we face together.

If Nagorka thinks God is not involved in every aspect of our
daily lives she is living in a state of ignorance. This could be
explained if she is getting her ‘facts’ only from the liberal
media. God has set every aspect of our natural world into motion.
Hurricanes (and rainbows) are a part of that environment, whether
we thank him or curse him for our momentary
circumstances.

The sun comes up each morning to shine on her as well as on
those who praise God for his constant goodness. God even grants
“wits and grits” to those whose prayers may groan out from a
fear-filled heart. He loves us all, and all things are going to
work for the good of those who love him, whether we do or do not
understand his great plan.

So I would say … keep it up, President Bush. Lead us onward
through this difficult time. Those of us who are blessed to know
God will join you in keeping his name before
us!
