Scouting report: Johnson makes Eagle

Kent E. Johnson of Castle Rock was recently awarded the rank of
Eagle Scout, Boy Scouts of America’s highest honor.

Speakers at the court of honor to present Johnson’s award
included Perry Park resident and family friend Stan Pore, past
scoutmaster Tom Toth, Douglas County Commissioner Steve
Boand.

Johnson began Scouting as a Tiger Cub and is the senior patrol
leader of Troop 261. He has participated in winter snow cave
camping, whitewater rafting, many hikes – including a 60-miler –
canoeing in Canada and climbed several 14ers.

He earned more than 90 merit badges and loves the outdoor camps.
He is now working on the Cycling Merit Badge with several other
scouts.

Johnson’s Eagle project, which was funded by congregational
members of Faith Lutheran Church, was constructing a much-needed
retaining wall on the south side of the church.
