Gallery hosts unusual art exhibit
Art Explorers Gallery in Castle Rock is the first stop on a
national tour of an unusual artistic photography exhibit, “A Year
in the Life of a Camera,” a project originated by a group of
photographers in Colorado Springs.
The gallery in Suite 247 of The Outlets at Castle Rock, at
Meadows Parkway and Interstate 25, is open from noon to 6 p.m.
Sunday through Friday and from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday.
“A Year in the Life of a Camera” is a collection of 52 images by
52 professional photographers, each of whom used the same camera, a
Canon AE1 manual, with the same lens for one week. Only one image
was chosen for display out of three submitted by each
photographer.
The resulting black-and-white images range from landscapes to
social statements. The camera traveled on family vacations to Las
Vegas and California as well all over Colorado.
The show runs through July 29. Call 303-663-9972.
DC Carpet raises money for wishes
DC Carpet Cleaning Inc. Owners David and Carrie Roberts have
vowed to raise $5,000 by Aug. 31 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of
Colorado Inc.
“We simply feel it’s the right thing to do at the right time,”
Carrie Roberts said. “It’s our version of ‘Pay It
Forward.'”
Each person who gives DC Carpet Cleaning a $25 check made out to
the foundation will receive up to 150 square feet of free carpet
cleaning.
“The value of this free cleaning is more than $50, so it’s a
win-win for everyone,” Roberts said. “We give the homeowner $50 of
free professional service, and they in turn give an ill child and
their family a chance to realize their dreams.”
The offer is limited to Douglas, Arapahoe and Elbert county
residents.
The Roberts’ goal is to motivate other service companies to also
give back to the community. For information, call
303-688-3212.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado grants the wishes of
children with life-threatening medical conditions. Visit
