Robert Hampton
Robert Wade Hampton, born Jan. 17, 1921, in St. Louis, Mo., died
Nov. 16, surrounded by his wife and family.
“Bob” was raised during the Depression era and had a strong
moral code and work ethic, his family says. As a child, he helped
fix Model A’s and Model T’s at the family garage and learned
aircraft mechanics as a young adult.
Mr. Hampton enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific
during World War II on board the USS Siboney as an aircraft
mechanic.
He worked as an aircraft mechanic and machinist after the war
and settled in Parker with his family in 1960. He retired as a
general machinist after more than a quarter of a century working
for Honeywell.
Mr. Hampton was the central figure of a family he was very proud
of. He was the family historian and wrote a large and detailed
family history.
Mr. Hampton also shared his love of nature with his family. His
marriage of 52 years with Ruth Benya Hampton was the joy and
motivation in his adult life.
He is survived by his sister, Pearle Orland, his wife and their
four children, eight grand children and one
great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be
made to a charity of your choice.
