Park pervert
Majestic View Park, West 70th Way and Estes Drive, Sept. 11, 9:22 a.m.
A woman jogger called police after she said a man flashed her along the Majestic View Park jogging trail. The 48-year-old woman told police she was jogging just south of West 72nd Avenue along the southbound trail that leads to the Majestic View Nature Center. As she neared the basketball courts, she saw an older man between 50 and 65 walking in front of her.
She said the man had his hands in front of him and it appeared that he was “messing around with something,” police reported. She said, soon after, the man went behind a tree next to the basketball courts and when the woman passed by, the man’s pants were unbuttoned and that he was exposing himself. After turning her head and yelling “pervert” at the man, the woman continued to jog down the trail until she arrived at the Majestic View Nature Center, where she called police. The man was last seen walking northbound on the trail toward West 72nd Avenue. Police were unable to locate the man upon arrival to the scene.
Ice bombs
7000 block of Ingalls Court, Sept. 14, 7:53 p.m.
The Jefferson County bomb squad was called to the 7000 block of Ingalis Court to detonate some homemade dry-ice bombs. Police were initially called when a resident in the area heard two loud explosions. After arriving on the scene, police learned that a 11-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl made dry-ice bombs in the girls back yard and were in the process of making them explode. The 11-year-old boy had taken some dry ice from his home in the neighborhood to the 10-year-old girl’s home. There, they filled some plastic bottles with water and dry ice and threw them into the yard, causing them to explode. The girl’s parents were not home at the time. Arvada police requested the assistance of the Jefferson County bomb squad to respond and detonate some remaining ice bombs that had not exploded when the children first threw them.
No charges were filed and the two children were lectured and released to their parents.
Homework
Allendale Park, 10800 block of West 62nd Avenue, Sept. 16, 6:38 p.m.
Police were called after receiving reports of two teens smoking marijuana in Allendale Park. An officer responded, and as he approached the two 14-year-old boys, he heard one of the boys shout “cops” and throw several objects onto the ground. The officer asked them what they were doing, and one boy said they were just “chilling.” The two denied smoking marijuana, and as the officer began to separate the two for questioning, one of the boys began trying to throw several other items into the grass. He was placed into handcuffs because the officer thought he was trying to destroy evidence. One of the boys admitted they were preparing to smoke marijuana only soon after to deny any knowledge or possession of a tin of marijuana and a pipe found near their location. The teen said he was, “Just chilling. I was just trying to do my homework.” Police said they did not find any school supplies on the teens or at the scene. The teens’ parents were contacted and one of the boys was issued an Arvada ticket for possession and consumption of marijuana.
