Developer endorses FasTracks
Greg Stevinson, a prominent civic and business leader in Jefferson County, announced his support for the FasTracks transit plan Monday, according to a release from the FasTracks Yes campaign.
“I believe the FasTracks transit plan is vital for the future and economic prosperity of the Denver Metropolitan area,” Stevinson wrote in a letter of support to FasTracks Yes campaign Chairwoman Marcia Garcia Berry. “Among other benefits it will bring new vitality to many of our older communities, especially in those areas that don’t currently have rapid transit lines.”
Stevinson is real estate developer with Denver West, a partner in the Denver West Office Park, Colorado Mills and Denver West Plaza. He is also the developer of the Denver West Village retail center. He has served as chairman of the Jefferson County Open Space Committee for 12 years and is a trustee of the Independence Institute.
“Some people have been surprised at my support for FasTracks since my family has been one of the state’s largest automobile dealers for decades. The automobile isn’t going away. Highways and cars will always be important, but the car can’t be the only transportation choice,” Stevinson said, according to the FasTracks Yes campaign. “FasTracks is not the sole answer to metro Denver’s transportation problem. It is, however, an important step in beginning to meet our current and future transportation needs.”
