When someone usually tries to locate a business, he or she looks
for the company’s sign. Making that first impression is nearly as
important as location, and one new local business is working to
make that impression a memorable one.
Sign-A-Rama, a national chain of sign designers and creators,
opened recently in the Parker Tech Center, 10550 S. Progress Way
No. 101. Owned by Tim and Kelly Perkins, this new shop has exploded
out of the gate, grabbing business from the new stores that seem to
open on a weekly basis in Parker.
“When you’re making a sign, you really want to get the message
across and make them attention grabbing,” said Tim Perkins, who has
lived in Parker with his wife for 10 years.
He said the growth in Parker is “phenomenal” and has accounted
for a lot of the couple’s business. Perkins considers Parker his
home and wants to be involved in the community by creating the best
product he can.
Sign-A-Rama, the eighth such franchise in the metro area, can
make anything an imagination can come up with. It uses a computer
design program called Flexi Sign Pro, which helps designers
manipulate a sign to the customer’s specifications. There are a
number of border designs, lettering and hundreds of art
styles.
“We can create a design from nothing or we can take something
someone already has,” he said. “If they have a logo, we can blow it
up and change the colors.”
Sign-A-Rama makes indoor and outdoor signs for businesses, but
also has the capability to make banners for special events. The
owners often use vinyl, but can silk-screen on a variety of
materials.
Perkins said they make electrical signs, but can create more
rustic-looking invitations, like a sandblasted wood sign made for a
company in Jackson Hole, Wyo. The difference between Sign-A-Rama
and other shops is attention to detail and customer
service.
“We’ll come out and be with the customer every step of the way,”
Tim Perkins said. “It’s more than dropping off an order and picking
up a sign.”
He said he has dealt with governmental entities and “knows the
what is allowed and what is not” pertaining to sign code
regulations.
“My motto is, ‘Signs don’t cost, they sell.'” he said. “An
effective sign will be able to pay for itself.”
Sign-A-Rama’s business hours are from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday
through Friday. Call (303) 805-7085 for more information.
