Local Elizabeth author, Marsha Haigh Arend, will speak at a
combined meeting of the Elizabeth Area Chamber of Commerce and the
Intermountain Rural Electric Association 11:30 a.m. Aug. 20 at
Spring Valley Golf Course.
Arend’s presentation will draw heavily from her new book,
“Please, I’d Rather Manage Myself.” The enlightening and witty book
is a powerhouse of savvy advice and tackles, with humor and heart,
every business problem imaginable. Children, irate customers,
unmotivated employees, pets, spouses and even space aliens teach
important lessons that make “Please, I’d Rather Manage Myself” a
fun read and an outstanding resource.
“Please, I’d Rather Manage Myself” is more than just a nuts and
bolts business book for modern entrepreneurs. It takes the reader
to places seldom visited by conventional business books and shows
its readers how to survive and prosper in a world of corporate
Goliaths.
Arend is a successful entrepreneur whose company, Macrologic,
Inc., has been a strong and respected player in the
telecommunications industry for the last 20 years. Prior to
starting her own business, Arend was a corporate turn-around
specialist and, as such, reversed the fortunes of nearly-bankrupt
companies, restoring them to long-term profitability.
