Brothers named Eagle Scouts
Castle Rock brothers Austin and Wade Palmer were inducted into
the Eagle Scouts June 5.
Austin, now 19, earned his Eagle Scout award when he was 18. He
is now attending the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs.
For his Eagle Scout project he collected items and made 156 health
packets to help the people of Potrerillos Village, Guanajunato,
Mexico. The packets consisted of two terry washcloths, six
toothbrushes and a large tube of toothpaste, one package of
toothpicks with dental floss, one large bar of anti-bacterial soap
and two combs.
Wade, 17, is a senior at Douglas County High School. He plans to
serve a two-year mission for his church. For his Eagle project he
reseeded 3.5 acres of the YMCA’s Shady Brook Camp that was burned
by the Hayman fire in June 2002. He used nine 50-pound bags of seed
and 35 bales of straw. After he and his team completed this project
they also did some additional service for the camp by watering 100
newly planted pine trees.
