Wrong places, wrong times

A woman at a day spa said she was getting a treatment when she walked into a sauna room and saw a 36-year-old man naked. The woman said that before she entered, she called into the room to make sure it was empty. The man didn’t answer. “I hope you didn’t see anything that shocked you,” the man reportedly said. The woman had the workers at the spa call the police. The man claimed the whole thing was a big misunderstanding. Police asked the man if he was caught in a similar situation in the past. He admitted that he had twice been convicted of indecent exposure. He said each case was “only a mistake and that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.” He said that the first charge was from urinating outdoors when he was locked out of his house. He said his second indecent-exposure conviction emanated from an incident in which he was in a public park and a mischievous dog pulled his shorts down. He was arrested.

Tub-thumping

Police were called to a noise disturbance at an apartment complex. A neighbor said there was a lot of yelling and loud banging coming from an apartment. An officer arrived and stood outside the door. He could hear what sounded like much violence coming from within. He radioed for backup. While he was waiting, a man exited the apartment. The officer entered the apartment and ordered three men, 19,19 and 23, onto the ground. The trio initially was compliant until the officer asked the 23-year-old why it was when he shined a light into his eyes his pupils didn’t dilate. He got up and started to move toward the officer aggressively. The officer fired a Taser at him. It connected and he fell backward through a glass coffee table. He was examined by paramedics and taken away to a detox center. His friends said the noise was probably from when they tore down a door in the apartment and tried to stomp it into pieces in the bathtub.

Sawblade throwing

7400 block of West 52nd Avenue, June 13, 3:42 a.m.

Police were dispatched to a restaurant about a physical disturbance. When they arrived, they spoke with four people apparently doing a construction job. A woman, 36, said they were working when her boyfriend, also 36, went into the parking lot to use her cell phone. She said he has a drug problem, and she was certain he was using her phone to score drugs. She said she grabbed the phone from him, which made him very angry. She said he started slapping and pushing her. Another worker, a 42-year-old man, attempted to intervene, but the boyfriend reportedly threw a circular sawblade at him, which hit him in the forehead. He said it was painful. A 57-year-old woman worker tried to separate the fighting couple, but she, too, was pushed by the boyfriend. Police arrived and, given that everybody’s stories jibed, arrested the boyfriend. He was reportedly flailing about to avoid arrest, and when he was finally placed in a holding cell, he began to “vomit profusely.”

Obscene phone calling

6800 block of Pierce Street, June 15

A woman called police about harassing phone calls. She said she has a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend. She said she met her fiancé for work when her cell phone rang. Because she was waiting to hear on a job, she answered. She said it was her ex-boyfriend, and that he started saying all sorts of sexually derogatory things about her. She hung up. He reportedly called back immediately. The fiancé answered and the ex told him he was going to have sex with the woman while the fiancé was at work. When the woman arrived home the calls were persisting and increasing in their threatening nature. The police requested a warrant for the ex, who lived in Denver.
