To the editor:
I saw a letter to the editor the other day in your paper. It
really ticked me off. I do not see how folks can be so insensitive.
The title was “Castle Rock’s stop/resume delivery requests
frustrating.”
This fellow probably complains that when he gets to his car it
is not already running with the temperature in the car at 72
degrees. Perhaps the title to the article should have stated, “You
usually get what you dish out.”
The person was really complaining about the postal service in
Castle Rock. I for one, am pleased with the postal service in
general. Sure there isn’t a business where humans work that can’t
be improved. I bet there are some good farmers who could improve my
operation if I took the time to listen.
For example, letters have been sent to me from Wellington, Colo.
at 10 a.m. on one day and have been delivered to me the very next
day, seven miles south of Castle Rock. Something has to be right to
have that happen, not once but several times over.
As to stopping your mail and then having it delivered at a later
date, that is a pure luxury. If I were postmaster, I would say, the
mail comes, come rain or shine, have a little gumption to make
arrangements for your neighbors to pick it up for you. As for
delivering held mail, I would say, come and get it!
Our little post office is one of the best I have had the chance
to work with. I have yet to go in with a strange request and not
have the clerk say, “If you would send it this way it would cost
you less,” or “If you are in a real hurry, do it this way.” That’s
what I call real service.
Thanks, Castle Rock Post Office.

P.S. I do not work for the post office, my wife doesn’t either.
We just appreciate dealing with nice folks.
