How many times have you wanted to tell your family members or friends to “get lost”?

Thanks to the Denver Botanic Gardens’ Chatfield Nature Preserve, the whole family can get lost and have fun doing it.

The fourth annual Corn

Maze opens Aug. 30 with

five-acres of confusing dead-ends, among turning, twisting paths lined by nine-foot-tall stalks of corn.

According to the Preserve’s staff, the 2003 maze is the most challenging to date. With a design of the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District’s Polar Bear logo, it’s no surprise.

For the less adventurous, two 15-feet tall illuminated bridges will overlook the giant maze, and a “mini-maze” adventure is available for younger children.

The maze is open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, from Aug. 30 to Oct. 31.

The nature preserve also will host food and craft vendors and barrel train rides for the kids.

The maze is open from 4 to 10 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays, and Noon to 8 p.m. Sundays.

Tickets cost $8 for adults, $7 for member adults, $7 for seniors 65 and older, $7 for students with ID, $6 for children ages 3 to 15, and $5 for member children ages 3 to 15.

The ticket windows close one hour before closing.

Chatfield Nature Preserve is located at 8500 Deer Creek Canyon Road in Littleton, just south of C-470 on Wadsworth Boulevard. Chatfield Nature Preserve features 750 acres of plants, wildlife, grasslands and protected wetlands. The Corn Maze won the prestigious Maize award in 2002 for having the most visitors in the United States.
